PolyClock™ World Clock is a very unique and thorough world clock for Android, as the title so aptly implies. It's as functional and well-designed as it is useful in so many interesting ways. As the iOS offers a world clock by default, most versions of Android fall short in this category by allowing only local time, which makes this app ideal for everyone else. Its main function is the ability to add as many different global time zones as you desire with any customizable city name you see fit; not being limited to just preset places. The main display is very organized and attractive, even from a distance with your device resting in a charger stand. Your chosen time zones will stack in a list, which can be reordered with a quick swipe or double tapped for extra information for that time zone. The zone information screen is chock full of handy statistics relative to that particular zone including; hour difference to local time, UTC time, Daylight Savings Time durations, sunrise and sunset times, day and date, geographic coordinates and other manual errata.

In the main display, zones slowly shift over time and fade their colored location bars across a relative timeline; showing you relative day and night compared to your local time zone. Here you may also view a box that covers the lower third of the display with either a globe or map of the world with real time day night shading to depict the sun graphically across the world. There is now no excuse for waking up your international contacts with social networking notifications with PolyClock running on your device. Another great addition is the alarm clock feature per different time zones, which can be set independently as needed. With the alarms set, you can now easily correlate meetings, events or scheduling with contacts across the world with ease. If you are a traveler, there is no need for sync via Internet servers to function properly and it also utilizes its own internal timezone database, avoiding obsolete time zones on your device.

As the colors for time zone bars can be customized globally, they cannot be set independently to color code as you might so desire. I believe this was a design decision considering the interface and not the end user, which is my only nitpick regarding this application. If you have any international friends, family or business contacts whatsoever, PolyClock is your best choice for keeping track of global times across the world and I highly recommend it, especially for the modest price point versus all the great features included.

Pros:
  • The most thorough and stylish world clock available.
  • Tracks and maintains time and statistics across the world.
  • Can set alarms for each separate time zone for scheduling.
  • Works independently of Internet servers for use in traveling.

Cons:
  • No independent customization of time zone colors.
