It's an android TV app - not a touchscreen app, so it won't do anything if you 'press on it', you need to use a controller for it. Also it works fine on Nvidia Shield TV, so you must be using a device it's not compatible with - in which case, contact Spotify.

Download from the playstore then, the app works fine as I used it for about 5 hours yesterday - so the problem is with your device not being supported. Your device uses stock android OS - not Android TV OS - use the phone Spotify app for your device.

I don't have a FireTV, but I have a FireTVStick and it works great on it.

It's not easy to mod this now, the file that was modded was an Arm binary file which gets decompiled with ida, most likely written in c++ and not java. This file has very good obfuscation compared to the older versions so it will take a while to trace the call for ads, something which I don't have the time for just now.

Also I checked out the new version, and can't see any differences in the GUI from the version you already have, so you're not missing out on anything new, and there's no new functions/features been added that I can find. So really you don't need a new version just yet as the one posted here works fine and has the same features as the newer version.
