When searching for an artist, all I get is a pop up saying `Something went wrong`. Sometimes clearing cache solves it ... for like ... one search. Is this a known issue ?

Yes, it's a problem that some users have been facing in the latest versions, according to the comments I saw in the forum, this bug can be caused by an app such as an ad-blocker, such as AdGuard, or a cleaning app such as SDmaid. To solve this, it can be useful to put Spotify on a white or safe list in these apps, or delete them. There are also users who have Xiaomi devices with Miui12 that have this bug. I haven't particularly suffered it on my devices. It's also possible that it's caused by the server, since lately the guys at Spotify are implementing changes.

Yes, it`s Spotify own bug introduced after 8.5.57 and i think everyone who is facing this should report on their forum, reporting here won`t do anything. For me It got solved by adding Spotify in whitelist of Sd maid and adblocker (Blokada). Also miui is shit with apps be it vanced, instaprefs etc

So I`ve tested playstore latest version (8.5.72..) for some time and I`ve not faced the artist issue even with sd maid and adblocker. I was facing this issue on 8.5.71... playstore version so maybe Spotify has fixed it if anyone can confirm on your side. Also blokada now blocks Spotify ads yay

I do run Adguard and Adguard VPN, but indeed the error stays when turning those off.

enter developer mode and enable 3rd party apps

You could Try 8.5.57, this is working dir me just fine.
