Azura is the secondary protagonist of Fire Emblem Fates, a Tactical-RPG developed and published for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console.
The gameplay focus is a slight bit more on the tactical side of things.. while still retaining core RPG elements.
Combat mechanics involve turn-based tactical grid movements, in same vein as Final Fantasy Tactics rather than the primary FF series which has a completely action-focused combat system.
As a RPG - Your primary protag/player character, the Avatar (default name Corrin) is completely customizable (gender/appearance/name). This was part of the reason I didn't choose him/her, as it would have led to a string of gender-based questions.. some of which might have been quite complicated to answer.
Anyway..
In the story, the Avatar is caught in a war between the kingdoms of Hoshido and Nohr. Just another generic fantasy trope, right.. But
Born to the Hoshidan royal family, raised as a foster ward/hostage in Nohr - he is faced with a loyalty conflict. To join his true siblings or his adopted siblings? (somewhat like Theon Greyjoy in Game of Thrones)
Meanwhile, Azura finds herself on the horns of the same dilemma. A princess of Nohr, raised by the Hoshidans.

These loyalty dilemmas of our main heroes were part of the reason the game was released in three separate standalone editions - Birthright, Conquest and Revelation.
In Birthright, the Avatar sides with his true family aka Azura's adopted family - the Hoshidans (the white ones on the right, in the above pic). Azura decides to join them and they journey and fight together against the Nohrians.
In Conquest, the Avatar sides with his adopted family - the Nohrians (the dark ones on the left, in the above pic). Azura joins her true family in Nohr too and they fight alongside against Hoshido.
In Revelation, the Avatar and Azura both refuse to take sides... are consequently branded traitors by both realms, then pursued across the lands, finally gutted and quartered, their heads lopped off and put on display ( just kiddin.. haven't been through this edition yet).
Azura's important because of her ability to perform a magical song called 'Lost in Thoughts all Alone', which helps our heroes immensely everytime they find themselves in a bit of a pickle (which is quite a lot). She performs diff. versions of this song, depends on which edition you play.
