Got a surprise visit during CNY lunch with family.

This is a popular chinese new year dish called the "Yee Sang." It usually consists of strips of raw fish like salmon or jellyfish and is mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of plum sauces and condiments. The yee sang symbolizes good luck for the new year and therefore everyone in the family/ at the table will stand up and proceed to toss the ingredients in the air with chopsticks. It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the growth in fortunes, so we normally go crazy and toss enthusiastically!
