What is it? LexiKo is a word game (the original name of Scrabble). As words are placed on the game board, points are collected. The object is to score more points than other players.

How do you play?
  • Only the subscribed players for each round may post in this contest...due to limited space all members wanting to play will be chosen by the random generator. For LexiKo only 4 players are chosen and able to play each contest. (Please see below the rules to be included in the random generator).
  • Players will be given 7 Word Tiles, via private message. These are not to be show to anyone.
  • Posting order of players will be decided by the random generator and will remain the same order for all remaing rounds.
  • When it is your turn you will post an image of the board (with any previous words posted showing) and with your word(s) also played, stating in your post what your word(s) is. Please also post what you believe the value of your word(s) is. See below for How To Post your Round Instructions.
  • After all players have posted, I will post an updated board and will send each player a complete set of tiles that consist of replacement tiles and leftover tiles from the previous round so they always have 7 tiles (these are the only tiles you may play that round). The number of Tiles left will be posted every update once there are only 20 tiles left.

Rules:
  • All words must be in the Collins Dictionary - Official Scrabble Word Check
  • Words that are not allowed to be played include suffixes, prefixes and abbreviations. Any word that requires the use of a hyphen or apostrophe cannot be played in the game. Any word that required the use of a capital letter is not allowed.
  • Foreign words are not allowed to be placed on the board. However, if the foreign word does appear in the Collins Dictionary - Official Scrabble Word Check, it is allowed. The reason for this is due to the fact that the word is spoken enough and is considered part of the English language.
  • Word tiles will be sorted by the random generator and distributed in the order listed, this list is to be kept by me (the host) and are time stamped if anyone wishes to see the list (after the contest is complete).
  • To begin the game, the player randomly assigned to play first will place their word on the star spin in the centre of the board. The star is a double square and will offer a double word score.
  • All players following will build their words off of this word, extending the game to other squares on the board. (All words played must be played off of other words already on the board).
  • Words are to be played horizontal or vertical...no diagonal words.
  • Each player has 24 hours to post their word (24 hours after the player has posted before them), after 24 hours the next player in line may post and the previous player misses their turn for that round.
  • NO EDITING (even if you are the last poster). Editing may effect the next player who is trying to organize their own word(s). If you feel you added your points incorrectly do not worry, I double check them and your posting them is just a guidline.

LexiKo Tiles
  • There are 100 tiles that are used in the game and 98 of them will contain letters and point values. There are 2 blank tiles that can be used as wild tiles to take the place of any letter. When a blank is played, it will remain in the game as the letter it substituted for.
    Image
  • Tile Values (click on the letter below to download the image or click here for the full alphabet)
    0 Points - Blank Tile.
    1 Point - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U.
    2 Points - D and G.
    3 Points - B, C, M and P.
    4 Points - F, H, V, W and Y.
    5 Points - K.
    8 Points - J and X.
    10 Points - Q and Z.
  • Extra Point Values
When looking at the board, players will see that some squares offer multipliers. Should a tile be placed on these squares, the value of the tile will be multiplied by 2x or 3x. Some squares will also multiply the total value of the word and not just the single point value of one tile.
Double Letter Scores - The light blue cells in the board, when these are used, they will double the value of the tile placed on that square.
Triple Letter Score - The dark blue cell in the board will be worth triple the value of the tile placed on that square.
Double Word Score - When a cell is light pink in colour, it is a double word cell and these run diagonally on the board, towards the four corners. When a word is placed on these squares, the entire value of the word will be doubled.
Triple Word Score - The dark orange square will triple the word score. Placing any word on these squares will boost points drastically.
One Single Use - When using the extra point squares on the board, they can only be used one time. If a player places a word here, it cannot be used as a multiplier by placing another word on the same square.

The Fifty Point Bonus
When players use all seven tiles to create a word on the board they will receive a 50 point bonus, in addition to the value of the word. If the game is near the end and players are not holding seven tiles, they do not get the bonus for using all of their tiles. This is only collected for seven letter words placed. 50 point bonus is not to be confused with 50 WRZ$, this is 50 points added to their score only.

Penalty situation
All words must be in the Collins Dictionary - Official Scrabble Word Check, any words not in the collins dictionary and reported as such, the word will be removed from the board. This must happen before the next player posts their word. The offending player will loose their turn and the tiles they played will go back to them, no points awarded to them, the player to post the word is invalid will be awarded 25 WRZ$, if the word IS found to be in the dictionary then the player who protested will loose 25 WRZ.

The End of a LexiKo contest
Once all tiles are gone and a single player has placed all of their tiles, the game will end.

Tallying LexiKo Scores
  • When the game ends, I will count all points that are remaining on the tiles that have not been played by each player. This amount will be deducted from their final score.
  • An added bonus is awarded to the player that ended the contest and has no remaining tiles. The tile values of all remaining players will be added to the score of the player who is out of tiles to produce the final score for the game.

Rewards
  • Winner is determined by who has the most points.
    • 1st Place - 200 WRZ$
    • 2nd Place - 150 WRZ$
    • 3rd Place - 100 WRZ$
    • 4th Place - 75 WRZ$

How to post your Round
To download and update the board with your words added using the free online-image-editor

  • Right click on the image of the board from the player before you, as that board will be the most current.
  • Save the image, either to your desktop or wherver you save images to be used later (or copy the image address(URL) and upload it directly into the "From URL" tab on image editor).
  • In the opening post is a shortcut to all the letters (under the Tile Values)
  • Either click on the full alphabet or just on the letters you want.
  • Again right click on the images and save them to the same place you have saved the board.
  • Now open the online-image-editor (this is a free image editor)
  • Top left is "Upload new picture"
  • Under the Upload tab is "Choose File" - find where you saved your images and choose the board image, upload. You should now have the current board uploaded and on your screen.
  • Go to the Wizards tab at the top.
    • Under the Wizards tab go to Overlay Image
    • On the left is now a box that says Choose File
    • Find the file that has all your images of the letters you saved.
    • Choose the letter you want and upload it
    • Move the image of the letter you just uploaded to the spot you want it and once in the right spot hit Apply. (Once you hit Apply you can not move the letter unless you say Undo, then you have to repeat the steps again).
    • Click on wizards -Overlay Image again
    • Repeat the steps until you have all your letters in the spots you want them.
  • When done you want to save your board image (top left corner)
  • Now upload your board to whatever hosting site you prefer and post your board as per the rules.
You can choose any hosting site but many people prefer Imgur. Always make sure your image of the board can be seen.
