250 Commonwealth Games Athletes and Officials Missing in Australia

Now the BBC has picked up the developing story . . . .

Around 50 competitors have remained in Australia illegally after going missing during this year's Commonwealth Games, a government official has said. Nearly 200 others now hold bridging visas and are applying for refugee status.

Australia has warned it will deport those who stay in the country illegally, after dozens of competitors - including many from Africa - disappeared from the competition.

The numbers are a dramatic increase on other international sporting events. 190 of the 205 athletes and officials in the country legally are seeking protection visas. The remaining number are applying for business or other visas.

Total numbers are still unclear . . .

Pj... congrats to the Yankees. Tonight's easy win over (the miserable) Texas Rangers helped to maintain their best overall record in the League.
At 31 and 13, they are looking really good. But still, Boston is only a half a game back with their 32 and 15 record. It will be fun watching these two teams all summer.

John, I was just commenting to my brother that even the very worst MLB team wins at least three out of ten games, so that keeps things interesting. The Royals beat the Yankees 5-2 on the 18th, for example. One factoid I missed is the following:

"The most potent lineup in the big leagues continued to slug at a historic pace on Monday. Led by the first multi-homer game of Gleyber Torres' young career, the Yankees cracked another five homers in a 10-5 slugfest victory over the Rangers at Globe Life Park. Torres went deep in the second and sixth innings, Neil Walker hit his first homer of the season and Aaron Judge launched his 12th long ball as the Yankees tallied at least four homers for the third consecutive game, marking the first time in franchise history that the feat has been accomplished. Aaron Hicks added a two-run shot in the ninth."

Yeah Pj... the standard rule of thumb is
ANY TEAM can
lose 54 games
win 54 games
And the difference between a champion and a dog is how they do in the other 54 games ;)

And that's interesting on the 4 home runs or more in three consecutive games... I would have thought that it had been done before by the Yankees

And don't forget folks... still plenty of time to sign up for TRIFECTA

SPORTS CENTER CONTEST #95

CROSS OVER DAILY DOUBLE

This will be another SC REPLAY
These games should look familiar to you :D

This Cross Over Daily Double will feature the same NHL and NBA teams we used for the Monday match ups.

The first game will be a NHL Playoff game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Washington Capitals
The series is tied 3 games each... whoever wins this one moves on to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The second game will be a NBA Playoff game between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. This series is now also tied, but at 2 games each... whoever wins this game will have a HUGE advantage.
This will be a Daily Double, so you know the drill. You will have to make the correct prediction on BOTH events to win.

INFORMATION
GAME ONE - HOCKEY

Washington Capitals (44%) vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (58%)
The favored team and their percent odds to win are in bold

GAME TWO - NBA
Cleveland Cavaliers (51%) vs. Boston Celtics (52%)
This is about as close as you get to a PICK'EM

What is it?
This is a Daily Double so you will need to predict the outcome of both events to win your share of the pool

How do you play?
To enter this contest, you will need to post the following:
CROSS OVER DAILY DOUBLE
Pick either Tampa Bay or Washington
Pick either Boston or Cleveland

EXAMPLE POST
CROSS OVER DAILY DOUBLE
Tampa Bay
Boston

Rules:
You have to pick BOTH events correctly to win
Only 1 post per person for this specific contest, any more and all of your posts will be disallowed.

ALL PICKS MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO THE FOLLOWING TIMES:
Wednesday 7 PM Chicago (UTC -5)
Wednesday Midnight GMT (UTC +0)
Any picks made after this deadline will simply be ignored.
Any edits after this deadline, and your post will be disallowed.

Reward:
If you guess correctly, you will share the 500 WRZ$ pool

So it's that easy, just pick two right and you win the DAILY DOUBLE

And don't forget... there is still plenty of time to sign up for TRIFECTA
