Sweden vs South Korea: Granqvist's VAR penalty gives Sweden 1-0 win over South Korea
Granqvist converted a 65th minute penalty awarded after video review to hand Sweden a 1-0 win
Swedish striker Marcus Berg had the best opportunity to break the deadlock
A match both sides were desperate to win after Mexico stunned Germany in the group opener was decided when Viktor Claesson went down from a challenge by Kim Min-woo with referee Joel Aguilar pointing to the spot after checking the footage.
Swedish striker Marcus Berg had the best opportunity to break the deadlock from open play but side-footed the ball into the knee of South Korea goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo from point blank range in the 21st minute.
Cho, a surprise selection between the posts, will take credit for that reflex save, and another early in the second half that denied Ola Toivonen, but was sent the wrong way by Granqvist's penalty.

As expected, Belgium dominated the proceedings and made lots of incursion into the Panama goal.
If Panama aren’t gonna win at least they are gonna try and break the record for most yellow cards in a World Cup game...

Sweden was the better team and deserved the win, though South Korea tried hard, especially near the end. However, once again, these top class, best in the world, players just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net.
Honestly lads, it’s not that hard to find, it’s that rectangular thing with net stretched over it at the end of the pitch.
Hardest working man on the pitch - Swedish captain Andreas Granqvist for his calmly competent penalty and general impression of being an immovable boulder of defending Swedish granite.

On paper Belgium should have been fantastic, I snagged a good fifth of their squad for my Premier League Fantasy Football team this year and they were the only part of my team that did well. But a lazy 45 minute warm up before even thinking about starting the goal scoring, is not what is expected from potential World Cup winners.
Hardest working item on the pitch - referee Janny Sikazwe’s yellow card.
Probably going to watch the England match from behind the sofa, but, don’t worry, I’ll be back.
