SUPPORT YOUR CONTEST MANAGERS

For this first of its kind contest, we looked at four Round of 16 matchups from the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup featuring home teams of our Contest Managers To win all we had to predict was how many home teams (in bold and red) would win, and for a chance at a bonus guess which of the eight teams would score the maximum number of goals.

GAME ONE - SUNDAY
England vs. Cameroon


England made it to the quarter-finals of the 2019 Women’s World Cup with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Cameroon despite this match making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Steph Houghton, Ellen White and Alex Greenwood scored for England in their last-16 match against a spirited Cameroon side who showed unsportsmanlike conduct involving multiple VAR calls.

GAME TWO - SUNDAY
France vs. Brazil


France captain Amandine Henry scored in extra time as the hosts beat Brazil 2-1 at the Women's World Cup in Le Havre on Sunday night to send Les Bleues into the quarterfinals of the tournament. Henry found the back of the net in the 107th minute of a tense game at the Stade Oceane after Thaisa had cancelled out Valerie Gauvin's second-half opener.

GAME THREE - MONDAY
Spain vs. USA


Spain struggled with possession for much of the game but it was survive and advance for the United States, which failed to generate a shot on goal besides its two penalty kick goals, and its defense looked shaky at times, but the Americans are through to the quarterfinals, where they will take on the hosts on Friday.

GAME FOUR - MONDAY
Sweden vs. Canada


Canada's World Cup campaign ended in the round-of-16 Monday with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sweden that saw the Canadians miss a chance to tie the game from the penalty spot. While the speed of Prince and Beckie offered some Canadian promise early on, chances were few and far between. The Swedes offered more offence after their goal and the Canadians just couldn’t keep up with the pace.
