THE ODDS
ROUND FOUR MATCHUP – BRONZE MEDAL
Canada vs. Czech Republic
To some surprise, the odds for this match up are coming close to even.
On one odds site:
Canada is a 11 to 8 (42%) favorite
Czech is a 7 to 5 (41%) under dog
On another site, it is dead even with both teams going off at 11 to 10 (48%)
In other words, it's pretty even. I guess people weren't impressed with Canada after they lost to Germany.
But at least they showed some effort after being down big, and almost tying the game up. The Czech Republic didn't look good at all against OAR. Frankly, these odds surprise me. But, since the odds follow the money, the bettors currently think it's even.
ROUND FIVE MATCHUP – GOLD MEDAL
Germany vs. Russians
There is no surprise on this one.
OAR is a 2 to 9 (82%) favorite in this match up. And the odds don't vary much by site.
OAR is a HUGE favorite. However, as mentioned before, Germany has been HUGE underdogs in their previous games, and here they are.
So... don't forget to make your pick for Round 4 in this thread.
And PM your pick for Round 5. (Including Tie Breaker - Total Goals Scored)

Just an FYI since it's not on the competition schedule, the figure skating exhibitions start at 9:30am Korea time on Saturday (Fri night in the Americas, middle of the night in Europe).
Oops, scratch that it's *Sunday* morning Korea time, Sat night, etc...

US Men's Curling Team Reaches Finals!
"The USA men's curling team is guaranteed an Olympic medal -- and it upset a powerhouse team to do it. Team Shuster has reached the gold medal game for the first time in history -- after defeating three-time defending gold medalist Canada 5-3 in the semifinals. The US will now face Sweden, who defeated Switzerland 9-3, in the final on Saturday."

Pjm, it was bad enough that Canada lost in the semis but they then went on to lose the Bronze medal game to Switzerland 5-7 as well!
It is the first time that the Canadian men and women have not medalled since curling was reintroduced to the Winter Olympics in 1998

anna, and there's another amazing Curling story developing . . .
Forget Lindsey Vonn and Adam Rippon, the real rock stars of the Pyeongchang Olympics are a humble group of Korean curlers who have no idea they have become a global sensation.
They are called the "Garlic Girls", the South Korean women's curling team with the fairytale story whose moniker reflects the locally famed garlic grown in their hometown.
Never considered a medal contender coming into Pyeongchang, they have played their way into the gold medal game while earning worldwide attention for their fierce talent and funny personalities.
And yet the Garlic Girls have been almost totally sheltered from the international frenzy both by personal choice — they switched off their phones during the games to block outside attention — and by a protective coach who is keenly aware that curling is as much a mental game as a physical one.
After a recent match, the women were quickly shuffled past waiting reporters, giving journalists apologetic smiles and greetings of "Anyonghaseyo!" (hello) before vanishing. None of them, says coach Kim Min-jung, are aware that they have become superstars.
