John and Katy and matina . . . this is the model (4WD) that I was driving for more than two weeks in the US. I felt like I could drive anywhere and was very, very safe on the road. It was actually the 'small truck' (as they called it) leased by my sister-in-law. (I never did drive any of my brother's 'big trucks' during my stay . . . )

Katy, wishing you a good evening and a good night.

matina, keep us posted on your recovery. So sorry that it's so hot in Adelaide. This is one of the reasons I retired to the mountains. I was finding Sydney just too hot as the years went by. And it's also why I won't be visiting my grandchildren in QLD during Christmas . . .

The last two cars I've owned have been Subaru Foresters, which are of course AWDs.

The Ford F 150s are common in the US and a good 'snow vehicle' too. Lots of people use them in the rural areas of Maine. The one I drove had an automatic transmission, with both high and low 4WD. Together with the power steering, it was easy to handle. I have a NSW 'Heavy Vehicle Driver's Licence' so am fairly familiar with driving large vehicles, but I took it very easy while driving in the US.

bomb, here's a photo of my brother, taken three years ago, when he found a restored vintage car that was the same make and model of my very first automobile . . . a 1955 Ford Fairlane with a 272 cubic inch V8 engine. A few months ago I checked and discovered, to my horror, that I've held a driver's licence for more than 53 years . . . Hmmmm.

EDIT: Note his wife's truck in the right background. She leases a new one every two years.

Hi everyone, especially matina and Alessa and Katy! Am now back from all my various errands, which included picking up specialised cat food (for Cosmo's renal diet, which helps him a lot).

Very few posts at TFWBL lately . . . this morning I couldn't post at all because (after 13 hours) no-one else had stopped by!

Here's a shot of nearby Echo Point . . . which I passed briefly an hour ago . . . So many tourists there! Luckily, I found a parking spot.

Hi, matina! Miss you too. How are you feeling? Hope the nap helped. :)
I’m Ok, had a good night’s sleep for a change as I was feeling very tired last night. Probably due to the cold meds.
It’s 17C right now and I wish I could send you our cool weather. Hang in there & drink lots of iced water.

booktopia: Hellooooooo ;)
