PJ, good morning! Good luck to Rishi as well! I'm sending her my mental loves!
Hello lovely Ice and John, too. I hope you both have had a good Monday!
I just got a text message that my parcel of books is due to arrive today. I am excited! :D I managed to get $230 worth of books for about $80 because I had $150 worth of gift vouchers. Hecking excited :D :D It's literally the only way I can afford books. And yay for Afterpay as well to be able to pay for the remainder. Woo!

I used to have over 10,000 books... but now that we are thinking of making the big move to a warmer retirement type location, there is no way we were going to move them...
So alas, I've sold most of them and only kept some personal favorites and my signed first edition collection.
It hurt to sell them, but they are a pain in the ass to move

and the storage too when you have limited space is very very hard ;-(
i love those old films with the huge library's in them filled with wall to wall books and a fireplace there it is an image of heaven to me. Ive always wanted one of my own :? but alas it will never ever be reality. however no harm in dreaming.;-) werewolves novels to my right vampire ones to my left and assorted ones in the middle. a nice fire going and a nice bottle of scotch and a few 4 legged fury west highland terriers surrounding me for company   HEAVEN!!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Rishi is back home and will have to go back to SASH on Thursday morning for her eye operation. The specialist vet anaesthetised her eye, and gently pushed it with a cotton bud, but it was too firmly implanted in her cornea. So it will be surgically removed and a graft put in place. At the same time, the vet will trim her two lower eyelids, which could be irritating her eyes. It won't be cheap but there's no option and after 2-4, Rishi should be much better.

Star, very glad to hear about your books. I have a huge collection of paper books, but about 3/4 are in storage now. Am going to do some sorting out in due course, and probably give away quite a few, apart from my favourites.

matina, that's a dream library. I have a nice fireplace and lots of books as well, but on a much, much more modest scale.

Katy, it was about 24 degrees in at North Ryde, and reached 19 up here. A beautiful day, although I spent much of it driving and waiting at SASH. Wind has dropped too. The drive down and back, GWH, then M4, then M7, then M2, and only a about a single km after the Delhi Road exit was about as good as could be expected . . . all between 10 am and 3 pm, when there was less traffic. Sydney has got bigger and bigger and bigger since I arrived down from Darwin in 1973.

John, thanks for the SC rewards. Will be back over there later.

Hi to br bear, and Ice and Stretton and Diva and Alessa, too.

John, that is so many books! A good haul's worth. I understand about it being hard to part with books, but you're right, it's a pain to move them. At least with ebooks you can have thousands on your kindle (or whatever device) and it's less than a kilo in weight.

Matina, that's the same as me! I've always wanted a giant library of books - like in Beauty and the Beast! That's the dream, hey? :D :D

PJ, I hope that Rishi's surgery goes well on Thursday. I'm keeping her in my thoughts. ♥

Katy, I love that you're passing on Harry Potter! I have several editions of the HP books, they're my biggest weakness, especially now they're bringing out the House editions of the books for the 20th anniversaries of them.

I'm settling in to read for the night. Take care, everyone. ♥♥

Star, I had to get rid of almost a cupboard and a half of books when we moved :(

I still have a cupboard left though... there is nothing that beats the smell of a new book it’s just a different feeling altogether :D

Pj, hope Rishi’s surgery goes well (I am partial to him though all your fuzzies are cute :) )

Matina, hope you are feeling better now after the session  Katy hugs to you as well

I don't know what it is about surgeries. I think the board is cursed lol. So many of us having them. I'm gearing up to have one on September 11th.

Since reading books is an action that skews to an older demographic, I don't think it's any surprise that medical issues pop up more here than a forum for a "shoot em up" video game forum ;)

PJ, that's a lovely photo! I love the colours of the sky reflecting in the water. I hope you had a good night. :)

Diva, that is a lot of books to get rid of! My soul hurts every time I have to get rid of a book to clear space. I don't have much space to begin with, so it makes it tough to get rid of books. But you're absolutely right - nothing beats that new book smell. Mmm! :D :D

needtakehave - I wish you the best of luck for your upcoming surgery! :)

John, omg. That's so true.
