Power out again today... couldn't understand what they meant by frost on the wires being the problem, we've had little snow so far this year and this is Canada, surely we've had frost before... :? :?

Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone

I can’t imagine myself living in a country where will have snow and frozen ice during the winter, travel to one for few weeks I can endure, but not for the long time. I could barely stand 10 degree or below in winter :? Make me a real hard job to leave my bed and miss my fluffy blanket :(

Good afternoon, everyone!

Stretton, I hope our Canadian telecommunication friends get their telephone lines sorted out. After 300-400 years of experience, most Canadians would long ago have come to expect fairly cold and frosty winters!

Photo shows a flock of ibises near my cardiologist's office at Westmead yesterday. Apparently they're fed daily at this spot, in the middle of a roundabout. There are a lot of these birds in Sydney, but we never see them in the Blue Mountains.

Katy, I got a good report from my cardiologist yesterday, and was taken off three medications, including the infamous Warfarin. This means no more INR blood tests every 2-3 days. He said my x-ray showed everything was healing just fine. He said that my constant neck and back pain was common after open heart surgery, because patients tend to alter their posture and 'hunch over.' He also said as well that, when I feel like it, I can start driving again. (Have had a driver's licence for 55 years, so it's weird to have to be ferried around everywhere.) Anyhow, I do feel better today and hope the reduction in side effects helps.

matina, hope you get a good rest today. Will send you news later about my strange 'gum bone' when I get back to the oral surgeon. Grandson is slowly getting better after his ear operation, but won't be doing any martial arts for a while. Thanks for being in touch.

Hi to Star and Ada. SebHusPup thanks for the puppy pictures. Greetings as always to br bear and Ice, Diva and Alessa.

John, here's an ibis close-up for you . . .

after my heart stent i didn't drive for 4 weeks i just didn't feel right. but being a female and having to wear a bra also made it harder for me to drive, as it crosses over the spot i have my stent i can still feel it sometimes.
Take it easy the last thing you need is an accidental jolt with the seat belt and then you wish you hadn't. you dont need any set backs just take it easy let others do for you for a change. better safe than sorry.
time for my nana nap and more pain killers.
i am having a very bad day today im glad we dont have to go anywhere today ;-( JG libations and lots of ice please

Hi PJ! I know right? That was why I was having trouble believing the frost on the lines excuse...  That's a photo of our power lines... I think SaskPower are trying to get the power lines underground but they have 157,000 km that they have to do...  SaskTel has also been working on getting their lines underground, as well, and I think they're further ahead, but it's expensive as you can imagine... :D I know when we were on the farm we had to negotiate with SP when they wanted to put a tower on some of our land, so since they have to negotiate with each landowner, it may take awhile... :D
Glad to hear that you are doing so well!! Getting off of 3 medications will be nice!! It's also good you've been cleared to drive again!! It's hard when you can't just jump in your car at the spur of the moment when the mood strikes...

Matina - hope tomorrow is better for you... :D

Katy - I'll have the kettle on... :D

Stretton
I can't believe you are having those kind of problems... Even here in Chicago, they have "that" problem solved. Our biggest concern is when we have mixed rain/snow/ice resulting in heavy snow which is heavy enough to knock down the few remaining above ground power lines. The good news is, they continue to bury the few remaining above ground power lines.

Pj... great pic of the ibis, a real strange looking dude
And great news on getting off the Warfarin. While I have never had the occasion to have to take it, my friends that have hated it and all the crap that went with it. And congrats on joining the driving team again. It sucks to not have the freedom to go where you want when you want.

SebHusPup... unlike many of the posters here, I'm like you. I much prefer the heat over the cold, yet I live in Chicago

Hi Star... good to see you around

Katy, bring on the sweets...

matina... widows walk

Back from the oral surgeon down in Penrith, who said my weird emerging 'bone fragment' is nothing to worry about . . . in fact, a second one is working its way to the surface! A long trip (son drove) just to be on the safe side.

Hi to matina, Katy, John, Ice, Stretton and all the TLWBF regulars.

I'm looking forward to feeling a lot better when my side effects subside. Has been 24 hours since I stopped Warfarin and a couple others.

(By the way, Rishi is definitely not allowed to sleep on the table!)

Nothing to worry about, but a second one is working it's way to the surface
And yeah, it will probably be 48 hours, or more likely 72 hours before you really start feeling better
Good luck
