FreezeMe, sending lots and lots of good wishes to your brother and family. Hope he's stabilised soon. Keep us posted. I'm on blood thinners for just such a possibility, so can really appreciate the danger.

matina and Katy, we just had a major false alarm at the end of Sublime Point. Three fire engines arrived to see what was going on. I went down (about 700 metres) and talked to two neighbours (leaving the firefighters in peace) and heard that a tourist at the big Fairmont Resort had reported it . . . not being sure of the location. Gusty and windy now and up to 32 degrees . . . quite hot for us. Hoping the wind doesn't force the fire back north towards my house. Am watching closely. Not as smoky here as it is down in Sydney. Katy, I imagine it's pretty bad where you are . . .

My 5 Christmas wreaths have arrived at my brother's house and at the houses of his four children. This is my annual gift to them all. Photo shows my niece's garage with a bit of snow in front for matina.

Sunnya isn't really worried about all the smoke outside . . .

FreezeMe, sending get well soon wishes to your brother.

matina, hope you enjoy your quiet day!

Katy, reached 35 degrees up here yesterday but the wind wasn't as bad as expected. Fire no closer to my house. Smoke here is probably not as bad as down in Sydney. Yes, the Ruined Castle fire jumped over into the Megalong Valley yesterday, heading west. Don't understand why.

Sunnya and Rishi are OK. Am not so sure anymore that the Prozac is helping Rishi, but at least she doesn't seem to be over-grooming. Will keep watching her closely.

Tried to mow a bit out front of my house after it cooled off a bit . . .

Hello everyone! Update about my brother : they released him from the hospital since he did all the tests , has to wait a couple of days for the blood results as to why he's getting blood clots. He's getting 2 injections here at home with the medication to prevent forming new blood clots. He properly ate finally and feels better at home than the hospital, especially since they put him in the "new" area but they didn't have simple things ... Anyways that's pretty much it. I got the haircut today, trimmed my hair really short since i have a hair loss condition due to low iron in blood. Not any bald patches or anything, just a middle to sometimes have hair loss. With that being said i'm finishing medical reports now !
PJ,Katy - wow i just saw what you guys posted about fires and smoke  Hope that the air will clear out soon and that they'll stop those fires everywhere soon! Katy glad that the temp is not as high, although 30C is quite high for me  PJ i'm sorry to hear about Prozac.. As well as humans pets tend to get resistance on certain drugs.. The vet may change the drug although i really hope that it won't come to that, maybe try giving her some natural products as Katy said ? :? I really like the photo of Sunnya btw! :D Matina i hope that you're doing okay :? Morgan ahahha yes , every day gets better with new pics :D  Ok well time for me to watch some more yt and head to bed. Hope that everyone will have a good day

hello all!
Morgan2498 welcome back nice to see you
Kathy bed rest and ice pack for you. get better soon.
PJ more kiri cream cheese for rishi get some lavender oil you can mix with water and lightly spray her bedding etc as it is a calming scent and keeps fleas at bay too. ( i still think she is pining for Cosmo) if you still have anything with his scent on it put it down and see what she does.
Kristina when you eat anything with iron in it like meat spinach mushrooms or even your iron medication have a glass of orange juice as it then doubles the amount of iron in the product your eating. so lets say a piece of steak has 30gms of iron in it if you have it with Orange juice it makes that piece 60gm of iron. something an old professor told me about as i too have low iron. so more meat and more vitamin c too. i was getting iron injections once a month at one stage and boy are they painful and they stain your thigh too for a couple of years. (like someone has beaten the holly hell out of you)

Hello everyone . . . just back from my trip to my specialist down in Penrith. All OK.

Still worrying about all the fires.

Will write more later.

EDIT . . . Someone just sent me this US report . . . from the Voice of America:

Australian firefighters battle to save residential areas from encroaching bushfires in the Central Coast, north of Sydney, Tuesday, December 10.

Toxic haze blanketed Sydney Tuesday triggering a chorus of smoke alarms to ring across the city and forcing school children inside, as "severe" weather conditions fueled deadly bush blazes along Australia's east coast.

Fire engines raced office-to-office in the city center with sirens blaring, as inland bushfires poured smoke laden with toxic particles into commercial buildings.

Emergency services responded to an "unprecedented" 500 automatic call-outs inside a few hours according to New South Wales Fire and Rescue's Roger Mentha.

A regional fire headquarters kilometers from the nearest blazes was itself evacuated while throngs of mask-wearing commuters choked their way through thick acrid air and the organizers of a harbor yacht race declared it was unsafe to proceed.

Katy, I posted that US news story because it was one of the most dramatic I've read. All true, of course, but merged together to make it sound like Sydney is in the middle of one of those mega-disaster movies. But sometimes the overwhelming smoke must make it feel that way. Much cooler up here and some misty almost-rain late last night. Nearby 'Ruined Castle' fire seems to be heading south and not towards my house.

matina, thanks for the tip about Rishi. You could be right. I've tried two different 'natural' soothers, without noticeable success. Prozac was the last resort, and seems to help. I give her kiri every night, as a treat, and she sits in my lap to eat it! Very cute.

Report from my surgeon yesterday was good. Won't give details now.

Hi to Diva and Morgan and Blue and FreezeMe and all the TLWBF regulars.

I had to wait a long time for my doctor yesterday. Took this photo of Nepean Hospital from a coffee shop across the street. And then found a spectacular flower growing outside!
