matina, glad to hear you're doing better today. Hope you'll be feeling more like yourself in another day or two. Just now back from my tutoring and will try to get to bed early tonight. Need to have Rishi at the SASH vet in North Ryde no later than 8:30 am tomorrow.

Katy, was listening to ABC 702 on the way back from tutoring and couldn't believe that Bell's Line of Road was closed! It's now reopened but the fire there is still out of control. No smell of smoke here, so the winds (still very strong) must be blowing from the west, and so the smoke is heading for my old home in the north of Sydney.

Star, thanks for thinking of my little Rishi and sending good wishes.

Books are forever things. *nods*

Matina, you be the werewolf, I'll go vampire. I pretty much don't eat a thing these days, so a liquid diet would be okay with me. Plus, immortal. Kind of need that to get all of the books read.

PJ, I'm still thinking of Rishi. And I can't get over those bushfires! That is absolutely crazy. This country needs rain so badly!

Hello everyone else. I hope you are all having a good week so far!

Off to the doctors this morning to see if any of my results are in from last week's hospital visit. Toodles!

Good morning matina, Katy, Alessa and Star!

I feel like it should be afternoon already. I was up at 5 am and had Rishi at the vet's door in North Ryde at exactly 8 am. Drive in took slightly more than two hours. Was back home again before 10:30. Vet nurses were very, very nice and asked all about Rishi while I did the paperwork (and paid the deposit) and assured me that they'll phone as soon as she wakes up from the anesthetic. I only saw the surgeon briefly but have confidence that she knows her job. And this is a pretty straight-forward operation and graft. Both her lower eyelids will be slightly trimmed at the same time. They tell me that the op will only take 45 minutes or so. Then Rishi will be on pain meds and will stay overnight. I'll probably only pick her up again at 12 noon tomorrow (Friday). Poor little thing. She's so shy. Anyhow, Cosmo and Sunnya appear to be acting like nothing has happened. They even wanted a second breakfast! I'll keep everyone posted after I get the phone call. Thanks so much for all the good wishes. It's made me feel a lot better.

Hi to br bear, Ice, Stretton, John, Diva and all the TLWBF regulars.

Bilpin area Blue Mountains bush fire is apparently under control and the winds have dropped since last night. Cold weather now heading for the Sydney area after tonight, I guess. Was strange to have 22 degrees temperatures while down in North Ryde this morning. Was almost like summer. 9 degrees up here at present, and going down to -1 tonight.

BTW, I'm so relieved not to be having to worry about caring for two 'Where/What' contests at the same time! In 'What' a newbie recently, and very cleverly, guessed my father's 'quoin' on his/her first guess, at about question no. 105 or so. Am happy to be just an ordinary guesser for a while now. Too much stress!

matina, glad to hear that the chiro helped you. Hope this is a turn of the corner . . . with better days ahead. Will be in touch again later.

Good news from the vet nurse at SASH a few minutes ago . . . Rishi is out of the anesthetic and the cornea graft and eyelid operation went well. Apparently the vet eye surgeon will ring me a bit later this afternoon. Earliest pickup tomorrow will be after 10 am. Very, very relieved!

Katy and Star, thanks again for all the good wishes.

Glad to it all went well with Rishi... There is NOTHING worse than "waiting for the phone call"
May the recovery go well

Star... Over here, we usually get our lab/test results posted on our personal healthcare site so we can see the results very quickly
The only thing you don't want to see is a note saying "SEE YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY" instead of the results ;)

matina... Katy is right
these work GREAT

Just continually wipe down all surfaces on a regular basis and it really helps stop the spread of germs when somebody is sick.
I HIGHLY recommend this type of product

And to all...

yummy cookies!!!!& coffee.
i prefer my results with the dr and not online. i dont like anyone having access to my medical stiff online. i like knowing that if anyone needs to hack my stuff they have to physically break into my drs office to get them, far too many so called medical professionals access our records without authority, especially when here in Australia identity theft is so bloody rampart.

I am one that welcomes the new technology.
In case of an emergency, doctors treating me have full access to my medical records
They know what meds I'm taking, any current conditions I have, and have the information they need to make sure they don't kill me accidentally while trying to save my life ;)
It also really helps when I'm seeing specialists my PCP refers me to.
I don't have to fill out a ton of paperwork every time I see a new doctor
I got really tired of providing every new bozo my long medical history when I've done it so many times for other doctors
Now I just show up and they have my insurance info, and my records... I walk right in and they already know why I'm there, and anything else they need to know to give me the best possible medical care. It really speeds things up and stops those annoying questions.

Hackers can get at just about everything else in our lives already... my medical records are the least of my concern ;)

No results from the doctor as of yet. But I've got another appointment next week just in case. At this point I may as well wait the fortnight until my follow up appointment with the specialist to get any results. Ah well. :)

PJ, I am so glad that Rishi's surgery went well and that she's in recovery. I'd wager that Sunnya and Cosmo will notice her when she gets back tomorrow, even if they don't seem to notice right now. She'll smell different, like the vets, and they'll wonder why. I am also glad that the bushfires have are under control. I hope they get put out quickly, and hope that no one gets hurt. It's absolute insanity that there's bushfires in the winter. I was talking to mum earlier and she says with any luck, the ground will be too burnt come summer to do any more damage. Or something like that that actually makes sense.

Matina, I'm with you - I'm not keen on this whole "my health record" thing. I'm guessing that one day we won't have a choice and they'll just do it for us regardless of the multitude of people opting out.

John, that's understandable that you prefer all of your stuff there instantly for your doctors and specialists. :)

Katy, I hope you had a good day. Thanks for the cookie, too! :D

Stretton, Ice, Bear, Nonny, and any other lurkers - hello and good morning to you all! I hope you all have a wonderful day, and that the rest of your week is kind to you! ♥
