Katy, hope you're not smelling any smoke. Rain has stopped here, but I just drove to Leura Mall and back in the heaviest fog I've seen in many years. Very, very thick. Had to just creep along.

This evening's press release by the Mayor of the City of the Blue Mountains:

"I have been informed just now that all Blue Mountains fires have been downgraded to 'Patrol Status.' This means there is no active fire fighting at moment. RFS and National Parks crews continue to patrol and make safe the areas around the fires. These are the Erskine Creek Fire, the Ruined Castle Fire, the Linden Creek Fire and the Grose Valley Fire. This is fantastic! While we have a long fire season ahead and we have to remain vigilant, crews will hopefully get a well earned break and we can call on visitors to come back to our Blue Mountains! Once again, let us all thank our front line emergency services and their families. They are the ones who got us here! They are awesome!'

It's been a day of sleet, ice and finally snow.

We just ordered in pizza and are relaxing watching some TV.

Good morning, everyone! A drizzly Sunday up here in the mountains, with not a fire in sight! Such a relief!

matina, hope you're having a good weekend and that it's not too warm over in Adelaide. Only about 15 degrees here right now.

Katy, I imagined that all the smoke had gone by now. Sydney sure suffered with air pollution during the fire. Oddly enough, I don't think it was usually so bad around here, though there were some days I really didn't want to leave the house. Light rain has been falling in Lithgow too, so my friend's area is completely safe now. And my son's koala research colony near Brisbane is OK, as the fires never reached them. I don't want to think about all the others. It's just too terrible.
