I have an idea for a new game contest:
Title: Fast five contest

It will be a fun game to play. To enter into the game you have to post a username starting with the last letter of the previous username posted by the previous user. Then after 5 valid posts after your first post, you have to have post "fast five + next username. If you miss to post, then you have to start again.

Fast five Award: At any time the contest host will announce Jackpot time and will post in the thread. Then counting at every 5 posts backwards from the contest host’s post, if any person’s "fast five" post matches the fifth post, then he will get reward of 25WRZ$.

so for your fast five post reward will be 5WRZ$
and if it matches with fifth post from jackpot time post, reward will be 5+25WRZ$.

Rules: 1) There should be five valid posts between your post and your previous post.
2) if any username ends with digit then u have to take its last alphabetical letter eg: for 3 it will be e as in three
3) if you are successful in making your "fast five" post, you should not post again for next 5 hrs. This is to prevent abuse and give others a chance to win.
4) you cannot use an already used username from the previous five posts before you, otherwise any username can be used again any number of times.
5) If its your perfect chance then you should post "fast five + the next username" (see below example)

example: The contest host will start with for example say
Raindrops
Last letter is S so next user posts a username starting with S
2. S for
scoobydude

3. E for
etotan

4. N for
nahidrasheed

5 D for
Dodoy

6 y for
yojyou

now if the first user posts he will have to post
fast five
umibunayya

and it continues. Our site has many unique usernames ending with different letters. So it will be more interesting
Open for suggestions and modifications to make it more entertaining.

it's an interesting idea, but I suspect some last letters are much more common than others, which might be seen as unfair to certain posters

There are so many usernames in this site ending with abrupt different letters. The fun part is posting exactly after 5 users have posted. There is a members area in this site including the option to search usernames starting from A to Z. Anyone can see there n post here. Image

@avoran and sathumbbs:

To much contest ideas (wonderful!) but not enough concrete in your proposals (a pity!). Like I said before, when you're ready for it - and prepared to moderate your contest yourself - let's do a try-out. We'll find out soon if it works...

I'm ready to try mine out, as moderator. I think it's concrete enough - except that you said you had some better ideas about the payout :) Once that part is settled I'm happy to write a final version of the rules.

edited to add:

Guy, I went back and looked at your post and realized that I probably misunderstood you. You weren't saying that you had ideas, but that I should give it more thought. I'll do that and post here again soon :)

OK, here goes. I realized this was similar in structure to the Please Answer My Call game, except that the chain is likely to be shorter. So I have 2 ideas and would like to see which one the players like best:

Variant 1 (simpler but less exciting):

pay-off is 5 WRZ$ per correct post for every poster

e.g. with 3 posters in the chain each of them gets 15 WRZ$, with 10 posters each of them gets 50 WRZ$, with 20 each of them gets 100 WRZ$

Variant 2 (a bit complex but it gives players a much stronger incentive to squeeze people in):

pay-off for each poster is N x (N-2), where N is the number of posters (or just N if N is 3 or less)

e.g. with 3 posters each of them gets 3 WRZ$
with 6 posters each of them gets 6 x (6-2) = 6 x 4 = 24 WRZ$
with 10 posters each of them gets 10 x (10-2) = 10 x 8 = 80 WRZ$
with 20 posters each of them gets 20 x (20-2) = 20 x 18 = 360 WRZ$

If the mods think those numbers are getting too large too quickly, it could be N x (N-3) or N x (N-5) instead.

What do people think? For those who haven't seen it already, I'm talking here about my proposed Chain Gang contest

@avoran: if the 1st rewards are too big there will be people who will fudge the contest just to get the wrz$. that's what happened in the 1st nerves of steel contest. there were people who weren't even trying to beat the best time, they were happy to win 10-15 wrz$ easily so they destroyed the game for everyone else.

Fast five contest
I am ready to do a try out. I have the experience of a bible quiz master in my church, perhaps that would help me here. I write my rounds and rules myself,

I thought and wrote this contest with the mindset of a basic user and I feel it would appeal to many basic users like me.
I just want to know whether you like my idea because you have enormous experience related to contests.

avoran, I think you've pretty much thought about everything, and I like your contest.
One point I would be careful about is the time between posts: a short period (I think you originally proposed one hour) wouldn't be practical because people here are in different time zones. I don't know, maybe 12 hours? That would give almost everyone the chance to participate. JMHO... :)

So I take it you're voting for option 2? And I'm leaning towards N-5

Somewhere along the line Guy (or maybe it was Raindrops) suggested 2 days. At the time I agreed but if I'm going to be moderator I think I'll exercise a little authority and cut that down to one day. ;)

Everybody:

If anyone can find or make an image that would be suitable for the starting post (like the rabbit for Rush Hour, for example) it would be much appreciated. Sadly I know next to nothing about making images.

One day sounds OK. And you should ask Templeton about the image, he's a wizard with that! :D
