What started in HOUSE OF M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in MESSIAH COMPLEX finishes here. In the epic crossover SECOND COMING, Cyclops? faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything the X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it?

"Second Coming" is a crossover storyline published by Marvel Comics that ran through the most of the X-Men comic books from March to July 2010.

"Second Coming" was the final part of a trilogy of stories that began with "Messiah Complex" and continued in "Messiah War". Intended as a conclusion to Cable's efforts to save Hope from Bishop who has hunted the so-called Mutant Messiah since her birth, the series also builds on the "Utopia", "Nation X" and "Necrosha" storylines of 2009 in the X-Men books.

The story centers on the return of Cable and Hope Summers to the present day and Bastion's final campaign to destroy the X-Men.

The Story: The companion volume to the X-Men event of 2010! Fighting for the future of mutantkind, the X-Men are locked in battle with Bastion. When Magik is gravely injured in battle, she instinctively flees to the sanctuary of Limbo - only to fall into the clutches of a longtime adversary hoping to wrest the powerful Soulsword - and control of Limbo - from her grasp. Now, a small team of X-Men venture in after her, but they are met only by unexpected peril. And in X-Factor, the mutant hunter Bastion has sent the Mutant Response Division and Bolivar Trask after X-Factor with one mission: Kill them all.
