I have downloaded new version from the other link (h**p://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=428&t=339280) in this forum and installed directly on my unrooted I9000. No circus was required, things are running absolutely fine.

The one you installed is not the modded one, as I notice.


The application crashes (tryed both methods, with signed and usigned - no result).

i installed unsigned, then signed, both are showing 3.4.7

its 3.5.19 here

Great, ok so this means you put it in works without root grants.

here's how i did it: (nexus s, latest cm9-nightly, store 3.5.16)

- got modded signed
- backup of phonesky.apk (no vending on my sys)
- wouldn't install ("...same signature...")
- copied new apk to system/app and renamed it
- changed permissions and owner
- reboot

new version runs fine.
but can't see the difference - still no play music-app (European here). plus the bad feeling of replacing a rather powerful sys-app with a version from a more or less trustworthy source.

I have the same problem... but the signed version works also on unrooted devices, it isn't?

No way for me to install both Signed and UnSigned....

Original instead works and update the previous installed found on the device... Grrrrrrrr! !!

Phonesky.apk is the new ICS naming convention for the Google Play Store in case anyone was wondering.

so what is exactly the difference when they say unlimited access...

figured it out:
"unlimited" = you get everything shown, doesn't matter if it's restricted to other countries or other devices. it works.
google's play-apps are another story, there's another check in place as well (gmail-account?).

so, here it is my way on which I installed this app to SGN running ICS 4.0.3:

1. download signed Mod version
2. Open Titanium Backup
3. under Backup/Restore tab find Google Play
4. long press on GP icon, choose FIRST wipe data then un-install
5. exit TB
6. restart phone
7. go to folder where you put vending.apk and install it
8. run Google Play
9. it should ask three times for your permision for use your data and details, you should alow that
10. wait for first screen of Google play and exit then
11. reboot your phone
12. now you have Google play 3.5.19 running

signed version is working ok, on htc buzz with cm7 and on htc saga stock rom. Just installed and app has been updated.

Guys, for installing you should use Signed one and for pushing via adb you can use Unsigned one.

Man, I used the signed one! BUT it doesn't install. ..
I have the options to update, launch or uninstall...
If I choose update it fails.... Choosing unistall I uninstal the latest update so from 3.5.16 I go back to 3.5.12 and cannot uninstal this last one... Later trying to update from 3.5.12 to the signed 3.5.19 again will fail. ...

for me still doenst work, tried many times. always it shows me 3.4.7 version and market freezes after opening it.. tried many things like wipe cache / dalvik cache, deleted app cache, uninstall with TB, reboot, install signed vending apk, install works but freezes after opening it...

well i stay at 3.5.16, because i dont see any changes...
