This has started to be identified by play protect as harmful. "Attempts to take over phone and steal data" false positive maybe but its Google store page was also removed.

Same here and for RedBox... Anyone know if this is a real threat?

It's not a real threat it's Google's way of scaring people away from using this kind of content. Google recently is even flagging youtube videos for this content and flagging uploads as harmful and dangerous and striking channels. Google wants everyone to use apps from the playstore where it's more likely to be dangerous and harmful with permissions on most apps that are not even needed most of the time

This is a weird one, perhaps it`s your signature hifi?
Resigned with lucky and the warning has gone away but have to reinstall unless rooted.
Ignoring it on mine caused it to nag the sht out of me every time I logged into Google irritatingly.

changing the signature will work for a bit but it will be back at some point
even changing the package will still trigger it again
the devs themselves have tried to fix it but cannot seem to beet google because within a few days the warnings are back.
I personally wouldn't worry about it and just disable play protect because let's face it what does it protect?
There are apps in the playstore that is not triggered by this because they are covered by play protect but some have questionable permissions and services
