Here is the final Pocket Birds (with luck). The reason it is released as a new topic is because I have made changes to the data than only these new version cabs can read.

I would appreciate it if anyone could make a mirror, especially of the VGA Data Folder as it is 145mb. :)
--------------------

New features include custom PC installation location (edit the 'desktop.txt' file) and new scanning of birds code.

All images now have standard file extension JPG (no longer JPX). This will make for easy editing and custom replacing of pictures.

The VGA/WVGA data folder is now 145mb in size due to the new birds added by Keke and Amedeo. I have also created new quick-pics for all the new birds that had images that did not conform to the layout of the program. The QVGA folder is still small at 29mb.

NON-ENGLISH DATA FOLDER USERS:
Those of you who are using non-English language text files simply download the relevent data folder and view the files inside by type. (VIEW, ARRANGE FILES BY, and choose TYPE). Select all the JPG files by clicking on the first JPG in the folder, now move to file: NOSOUND.MPX(before the TXX files). Hold down SHIFT and click on this file. This will highlight every JPG and MPX file between the first and last file. Now copy these images to a temporary folder.

Now open your original PBEdata folder to get your special text files, and repeat the VIEW, Arrange Files By TYPE procedure. Click on the first TXX and move to the final file in the folder which will be a TXX file. SHIFT and click to highlight this block of special text files and copy them over to the temporary folder. Rename this temporary folder PBEdata. This is your new data folder.

amazing work, squawksarah, thanks!!!

shucks, I get the "data folder missing" error, even though I turned on the manual_card.txt option and entered the right path: \SD-MMC Card\ into the SDCARD.txt :(

am I doing something wrong? (I have a crappy WM2003 btw)

Did you try it in auto mode first? I don't know but it just might be possible that the auto system doesn't work with pre WM5 operating systems. But the manual method should work as all it does is manually reads sdcard.txt. Whatever is in sdcard.txt will be used. Strange. Make sure your PDA has NET cf 2.0 installed! ;)

Hi squawksarah, thanks for your hard work! I have another problem: no images, sounds or data loaded (image not available at center of the screen) and for info stuck on "Please wait...". In the upper left corner the localized name appear (I copied italian files in PBEdat\List\) and I can switch the different habitat and types, but always no images, data and sounds.
If I turn on the manual_card.txt option and enter the right path: \Scheda di memoria\ into the SDCARD.txt I get the "data folder missing" error.
I have a qvga device wm6.1. Previous version always worked. TIA

You say 'I copied italian files in PBEdat\List\'

It should be PBEdata not pbedat. The last person who reported this error didn't have the correct .net cf running on his device. Once it was installed everything went ok.

Hi,
I've just installed this version with the qvga data and I get 'Image not available' for the first dozen or so birds I've scrolled through.
Information, I just get please wait ...

Update, I just hit the scroll button and kept it pressed and there are odd pictures flashing up occasionally.
Was this data file an update to the original?
Thanks.

Guys, these are all QVGA data errors?

I have looked at the uploaded QVGA folder and it is incomplete and I don't know how that happened. Sorry. :(

I will recreate a QVGA data folder and repost it asap!

Thanks for the update, Sarah. The program now looks fantastic on my HD2 and you seem to have bashed out every possible niggle!

Do you ever get time to go and look at the real birds? ;)
