Du you have CityNavigator Europe NT 2018.30 without (Unicode ) ?

I ran into problems for the first time with this map and my old 1390T. I cannot search using street names (it tells me "no map data available). I can navigate with coordinates. Earlier NTU maps did work. But not this one. So I guess I will need to use the NT version. Is NT 2018.30 available? I only found 2018.20, but elsewhere, not here on mobilism.

No. 2-3 years ago Garmin started to only provide the NT version for (about) half the releases.
So 2018.30 is only in the NTU-version, but 2018.40 should come in both NT and NTU-versions.

I must admit that I've never downloaded these files as I don't fancy jumping through hoops like the OP makes you.
According to the OP there's an unlocked gmap folder inside.

You should copy this to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Garmin\Maps and then it should be available in BaseCamp or MapSource.

Much easier to go for an unlocked image file, which can be copied to an SD-card and put into the navigator.

2019.10 is now available in both NT and NTU versions.
