hehs .... I was reading this whole topic for 2 - 3 hours with constant google search when I was in doubt ;D after this time I simply can't get this tomtom working ....

my setup:
htc herm 100 - yes it's WM5
sd card under /storage card/

I was trying many installs posted here + I've tried to put uk maps in almost any dir in my SD card .... and it still can't find any map ;X

I've had previously installed some tt from torrent dvd image ... and it was working ... quite crappy. I was trying to install over this ver, uninstall prev ver, remove all remaining files ... fresh install and nothing ... still can't find this god-damned maps ... I've edited CurrentMap.dat file to point to /storage card/ or /storage card/maps or either /storage card/maps/UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE-Map and still nothing ;X

wtf is going on ?! can somebody write a REAL manual for this what depend on what, what have to be where, what you can do if you get certain error ... really it's confusing and frustrating ... specially at 2 in the morning ;X

pls !! ppl, write this info, because "install to storage card" doesn't make to clear answer for many

btw. I'm trying to use maps from "combo topic" which included UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE-Map in 2 parts on rapidshare and megauploads ( it was 660.1223 ... i think )

I've tried both TomTom Navigator 6.100 build 7970 + build 8100, but neither are recognizing my maps is there a new way to install them, or is this map version incompatible (TomTom 6 Canada & Alaska Maps (v650.1112))?

I'll tell you my expirience!
I had the same problem but i've managed it when i proceed like this:
I've installed TomTom Navigator 6.100 build 7970, in the root of the PPC, runed it and after that i've installed the map in the root of memory card.
Works just fine on my i-mate JAMin.

Hope i was able to help you.

Regards from Portugal.

Try to compress Tomtom 6.10 with UPX.
Speed is increased a lot. Now Tomtom opens in a few seconds, and it looks to locate satellites faster too.

You can download it here (freeware):
http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=UPX4PPC&platform=ppc

Extract the zip. You will find a .cab, an ActiveSync .exe and manual install files.

You can compress any .exe or .dll from your PocketPC. UPX4PPC will tell you to save a backup on a zip file.

Applications will open faster because of the new size, but consuming more ram (only at the opening, then the ram consume is normal).

Sorry for my english. I'm spanish.

I think that Tomtom is faster fixing too. In general, Tomtom 6.10 is faster.
For example, before compressing it takes at least 8 seconds to start. Now it takes 4!!!

Sorry. Having english lessons right now.

I use to have it, but with this new version (8100) of tomtom I thought I would tidy my files and delete some of the early versions.

Does anyone have the data.chk file that has the beeps, alarms ect replaced with spoken warnings for speed cameras for this latest build.

Wow,
after 3 days at the computer, reading all the posts in the different threads and downloading many files (also wrong ones), I finally succeeded in installing TomTom 6 and maps on my Trinity with the GPS enabled ROM.
Now, I am a happy navigator!
Only one thing I couldn't solve: I have to use file explorer to go to SD card and click on the TomTom exe file.
Is there a easy solution to have a shortcut in Programs or Today screen without suplementary software?

Thanks to all great people, making PPC WAREZ possible :D
