It really depends what you want
something quick really simple that doesn't take up a lot of room because it's only got maps of the area you need and you can put up with slightly more limited set of choices with routing and point of information and stuff then NDS
Go is slightly bloated has large maps because it's usually the whole country but also has more features for routing and points of information etc
I suspect they will drop go completely soon and concentrate on NDS
I would say having tried both that NDS is the better option if all you need is a decent GPS mapper without too many bells and whistles

Your suspicion is spot-on.
I believe the updated Go 2.0.x is exactly the same as Nds now.
