[MULTI] iGO Terrain (.dem) GLOBAL EARTH
Requirements: iGO 8.3 or higher, iGO Primo or iGO Amigo installed on any Windows mobile PDA, any windows CE PNA or any Android device.
Overview: .dem files gives to iGO the ability to show an overhead view of the map (with terrain colouring/shading) where you can pin-point your precise destination. In 3D mode the view changes into a spectacular real point of view. In 2D mode it shows colorful areas depending on terrain height. Look at the screenshots.

Nothing, just go into a mountainous area and terrain will appear on the screen. To view a more 3D perspective click on any part of the map on 3D view and move the point of view using the arrows.

Put the file "Europe_NASA.dem" for example, like this: igo/content/dem/Europe_NASA.dem

Best regards

Hi kiowa79,

Thanks a lot for your nice post. Only one question: what is the difference between Premium and Not-Premium files?

Thanks in advance

Dear kiowa79,

Could you please explain why ONLY ONE .dem file should be used? And what does it happens if I put, for example, together France TA.dem and Europe CGIAR.dem?

Best

iGo will use most recent one from the appropriate files found…If you're in France and France.dem is newer, France.dem will be used, otherwise Europe.dem. If you leave France into an European country, Europe.dem will be used.
So, if Europe.dem is newer, France.dem is only a space hog on your device's memory.

Thanks a lot! And one more question. If I am in France, what is, in your opinion, better: to use newer Europe.dem or older France.dem?

Depends on what you're expecting. Performance or eye-candy.
France.dem is usable only in France, and if you're out of France, you're not having any benefit from it, area will be represented as a flat area, even if you're traveling to mountain area from Switzerland, North Italy, South Germany or Pyrenees.
On the other hand, Europe.dem is a large file and have impact on system's performance (like 3D building files too) making the device sluggish.
It's only your decision. You can try with or without them to see if it's important(wothy) or not.
