I have no fricken idea how to do this... I've read over thirty pages on my mobile device!!! You can't tell if people are talking about Symbian, Bada, Apple, Android, ...

Why can't anyone / nobody just write ANDROID INSTRUCTIONS, amd WIN MOBILE INSTRUCTIONS, and SYMBIAN INSTRUCTIONS, and BADA INSTRUCTIONS???

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 | Android v2.3.3ish | Not Rooted.

Don't know if this will help anyone, but thought I would contribute... Even though asking for help still

I downloaded the free ndrive version 10.1.15 from android market and downloaded both English US / UK files (see below).

Includes:
../voices/DanielleUS.zbi (US)
../voices/MaryEN.zbi (UK)

RESULTS - FOLLOWING VARIOUS INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS THREAD (32 Pages)

#1. Tried 11.3.02 (v32672) APK and copied /maps/ to sd card /ndrive/maps/ folder, but asks about activating maps upon start up....
#2. Tried 10.1.15 (v26543) Free (Via Market, Maps = $$) and copied /maps/ to sd card /ndrive/maps/ folder, but asks about activating maps upon start up....

Then looking at the most documented, results from google / results in mobilism etc, followed these insturctures....
#3. Tried 10.1.15 (v1147) AndroidBoost APK and copied the maps into /maps/ and voices to /voices/ etc... I've tried with the ones it downloads for you - no option, first thing it does when you open the program - once you select the voices, it then downloads 37ish MB to create /ndrive/ folder on the External Memory....
So I let it download the US / UK english files, then it allows me to enter settings.. With the 'Android Market' version, I could go one step further and download maps too.).

Doesn't appear to work guys! :S

#4. I've also tried getting the map files from the PC installer (NDrive_XXX_NT_MultiPlatform.exe) which is successful, but I don't continue any further through the setup after it asks for the USB cable etc (after finishing the Map downloads). I then would copy the maps folder (/maps/) to the SD card so to get the .map files etc... (There is also a voices.zip file with it which includes all voices, which i left along)


These is definitively something up with these instructions....

I thought it was as easy as installing the 10.1 Androidboost APK linked to in this long long thread, and then copying the map files from PC to Android /maps/ folder and voices to /voices/ folder?

I would appreciate any constructive input!

*** NDRIVE 10.1.15 FOR ANDROID | INSTALLATION GUIDE ***

++++ PRELIMINARY STEPS ++++
YOU MUST READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY!

There are two easy ways to get this to work. As it is quite clear, no one on 32 pages is organized enough to write down their prices of installing NDRIVE, without vague and convoluted steps, I have gone to the effort of testing and writing up the steps and instructions all via my Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100! (Would have been easier with a real keyboard and mouse!)

REQUIREMENT: We need maps and voices for our country and language.

I got mine from TWO methods, these were:

METHOD ONE:
The other way that also worked for me was to download the free v10.5.1 NDRIVE from Android Market. (just do a search and look for a free NDRIVE. In the description it says only for technical support use!) Heheh....

(I will upload NDRIVE below as file #001.)

I installed it, ran setup wizard, downloaded maps, voices.

I then uninstalled NDRIVE and copied the /voices/ and /maps/ folders from SDCard to another folder.

Once you've moved or copied those folders, delete the NDRIVE folder on your SDCard (and also uninstall NDRIVE, if you didn't do that above as instructed!).

(I will upload the voices below to #003.)

--OR--

METHOD TWO:
Download the file, with your map region, with a file labeled this, with the XXX substituted for your country.

(I will upload EXE below as file #002.)

This windows application contains everything we need. Just open it, run the install, then it will extract three map file from inside the exe, I clicked cancel on rest of setup.

NOTE: You can also just right click on the exe and click "extract to..." if you have WinRAR... this will extract the whole thing, giving you access to Maps folder, but no custom downloaded voices (if you want more than just English etc).

(I will upload the voices below to #003.)


++++ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ++++
Once you have followed the serious above, begin with these easy steps:

1. INSTALL THE ANDROID BOOST VERSION 10.5.1 APK.
(I will upload below as file #004.)

2. START THE SETUP WIZARD, IT WILL DOWNLOAD 35+ MB.

3. WHEN IT STARTS THE WIZARD STARTS ASKING TO DOWNLOAD LANGUAGES, KILL THE NDRIVE PROCESS (TASK MANAGER).

4. COPY THE VOICES FILES INTO THE /VOICES/ FOLDER ON YOUR SDCARD.

5. COPY THE MAP(S) AND THE /ExtraFeaturePaks/Voices.zip INTO /MAPS/ FOLDER ON YOUR SDCARD. (EXAMPLE: XXX_NT.MAP)

6. NOW, TURN YOUR GPS ON AND OPEN NDRIVE (AGAIN).

7. IT WILL START LOADING AND THEN SHOW THE "PICK DEFAULT LANGUAGE" SCREEN (AS WE ALREADY INSTALLED VOICES IN STEPS ABOVE!).

8. CHOOSE YOUR DEFAULT LANGUAGE, BY PLACING TICK ON ONE AND CONTINUE.

9. CONFIGURE THE SETTINGS, AND YOU CAN THEN START NAVIGATING.
