Since I have ABBYY Fine Reader, I run the PDF through it, and then save it as ePUB or DOCX. The problem with conversion from PDF, sometimes the double letters got lost. Like the word WALLFLOWER. Sometimes it will come out as WAL FLOWER. The other L is missing. I've dealt a lot of PDF conversions, thru calibre and epub, but I found out that using ABBYY to "ocr" the PDF is much easier. Very minimal cleanup needed or nothing at all.

I always convert my files into mobi so I use Mobipocket creator. It converts pdf/html/word/txt into mobi files. :)

Open the resulting EPUB in Sigil - to correct all the rest of the problems.

Run the edited EPUB from Sigil through Calibre - to convert to MOBI (or whatever your preferred format happens to be).

Note: All these programs are free!

If you are like me and don't like to use Calibre, follow the first two steps and then use the Online converter (http://www.online-convert.com/) to convert from epub to Mobi

The pdftoepub website now shows nothing more than a domain held by (registrar) placeholder.
