Description
AdAway is a utility used to manage hostfile entries; your phone must be rooted to use this app. AdAway doesn't directly block ads; it limits unwanted ads by blocking servers that distribute those ads to websites. Modifying hostfile entries is also useful in blocking ads on some Android apps.

here is the changelog for this update build:
Oreo support will definitely be shipped for the 4.x version!
CWAC Wakeful is no more supported and I already port it to Evernote Android-Job,
The service to boot the web server is removed (I start it in the broadcast receiver instead. Is-it really lighter to start a foreground service with its notification rather than running a new shell process in background?),
Notification channel are not implemented yet (but there is a PR).

was working but stopped recently, uninstalled and reinstalled/updated and restarted but still getting ads that where blocked before.

The same is happened to me. But it's probably more to the definitions and hosts database updates that the app itself. The app only blocks from what it's filtered thru the updated hosts databases..

I don't know what's wrong because I use a different host source and not the default ones. You can try unticking the default ones and only add and keep this
