Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.7 MB
Overview: Alexander Lound is a writer of YA fiction from Kent, UK. He first fell in love with writing when he was a young boy: in primary school, he used to keep a ream of unfinished stories in his under-desk tray, complete with pictures (though he has never been a great illustrator). After becoming an English teacher, he decided to start writing for the audience that he teaches, and for anybody else who loves the supernatural, horror, or YA fiction.
Genre: Fiction > Children/Young Adult | Horror

1. The Spirit in the Crypt
When fifteen-year-old Jonathan Roberts goes out with his friends on a summer night, he doesn’t expect to be forced to enter a crypt by Francis Everton. To be forced to look at skeletons decaying in their graves.

To hear the voice, screaming at him. Screaming into his mind. Commanding him to leave.

What the voice in the crypt belongs to, he can only wonder. A demon? A ghost? It gives him nightmares for weeks afterwards. Of skeletons strangling him. And then, bizarrely, of a girl from his school, making the long walk across the graveyard and entering the crypt. Never to come out before his waking.

When he returns to school in September, he never expects to learn that something awful has happened to the girl, turning his fear to panic. Panic which will force him to unravel the mystery of the crypt, and in doing so, many mysteries about himself.

2. The Burned House
Nearly a year after learning that he can speak to the dead, Jonny Roberts has spent much of his time working with his new medium friend, Aaron. Whether it’s reconnecting loved ones with dead relatives, or helping spirits to cross over, Jonny has been happy to help.

That is, until a young boy is found dead, his body impaled with floorboards, sharpened into knife points; and in the same house where a family died seven years earlier, in a tragic fire.

Suspecting that the event might be down to the supernatural, Aaron and Jonny soon investigate. But when the spirit makes it clear that it doesn’t intend to stop at the boy, they begin to wonder if this might be their most dangerous case yet…

3. The Witch Hunt
Two months on from the tragedy of the burned house, and Jonny has spent most of the long summer days in bed, hiding from the miserable rain. Ghost-hunting is in his past. After all, it has proved to be little more than a curse.

However, when his dad reaches out to him after an eighteen-month absence, Jonny can’t hide his fury. He also can’t say no when his father asks him to stay at his new home in the quaint, little village of Peene. Maybe it will heal the hurt between them. At the very least, it will take his mind off Grantford, and his haunting nightmares.

But, when he realises ‒ feels ‒ that all isn’t quite right with his dad’s new partner, Bella, he has no choice but to turn back to his ability. To uncover a grisly murder of years past. Even if it means risking another date with death . . .

4. The Forgotten Children
The start of a new term, and a new school for Jonny. St David’s brings the chance of a fresh beginning, a chance to forget about the past. Furthermore, the school building is brand new, with state-of-the-art facilities and some of the best teachers in the country.

However, across from this new school, a catastrophe stands. The old school building: rotting, broken, neglected. An eye-sore. Soon to be knocked down. That is, before a boy is murdered in there, and Jonny realises his fresh start will be anything but . . .
