Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 is out! Just like PwnageTool for Mac, you can now cook custom firmwares of iOS 4.1 on Windows without upgrading the baseband, which ultimately means that you can use ultrasn0w unlock software to unlock your phone on the older baseband.

Required Files:
Sn0wbreeze: http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/download/f ... reeze20/pc
IOS 4.1: viewtopic.php?p=509542#p509542

Sn0wbreeze 2.0 supports following devices:

iPod touch 1G (Must be jailbroken on any firmware version)
iPod touch 2G (Non-MC Model, Must be jailbroken on any firmware, if not, then use iREB from here)
iPod touch 2G (MC Model, must be on iOS 3.1.2. Does not need to be jailbroken on 3.1.2)
iPod touch 3G (Must be previously jailbroken on 3.1.2)
iPhone 2G
iPhone 3G (Must be jailbroken on any firmware, if not, then use iREB from here)
iPhone 3GS new bootrom (Must be previously jailbroken on 3.1.2)
iPhone 3GS old bootrom (Must be already jailbroken. If you are jailbroken using Spirit or JailbreakMe, install Spirit2Pwn from http://repo.woowiz.net.

NOTE: Sn0wbreeze 2.0 WILL NOT jailbreak iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G.

Instructions are as follows:

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Step 2: Now start iTunes and sync your iPhone with your PC so that it backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.
Step 3: Download Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and the original iOS 4.1 firmware file for your version of iPhone or iPod touch. Move all these files to your desktop.
Step 4: Start Sn0wbreeze and select “Expert Mode”.
Step 5: Sn0wbreeze will now ask you to browse for your .ipsw file. Select the correct iOS 4.1 firmware .ipsw file by clicking the “Browse” button. Sn0wbreeze will verify the selected file and then will present you with following screens.
Step 6: Now if you are on iPhone 3GS (New Bootrom) or iPod touch 3G, make sure you hit “General”-> and check “Use iBooty Method (3.1.2 Installation Required!).
Also check “Activate The iPhone” if you are on unofficial carrier and want Sn0wbreeze to hacktivate your phone.
Step 7: Now simply select “Build IPSW”. Sn0wbreeze will now create the custom .ipsw file for your iPhone which will be jailbroken.
Step 8: Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 4.1 that you just cooked using Sn0wbreeze for your iPhone. Click on your phone from the sidebar in iTunes and then press and hold left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button.
This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your custom firmware 4.1. Select that custom .ipsw file and click on “Open”.
Step 9: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don’t do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs the new iOS 4.1 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully jailbroken iPhone running on iOS 4.1.

How to: Unlock iOS 4.1 (Old Baseband):
Once you are done with the jailbreak, you can follow our step by step guide posted here to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.x, on older baseband using Ultrasn0w.

Step 10: Once you are done with the unlocking and jailbreak process. You can now restore all your settings, apps, music, contacts and photos to the newly installed iOS 4.1 by restoring the backup that you made in Step 2 from iTunes.

Feel free to ask me any question here should you run into any problem during the jailbreak process.

See, I've tried using sn0wbreeze. But I hang on the install.
I always get error 1604.
I have a iTouch 2G MB model running a JB from jailbreakme on 4.0.
I've also tried using iReb, but even that fails.
I get an "unhandled exception" error when the DFU mode part comes up.
I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.
I'm on itunes 10 still, would updating to 10.0.1 help at all?

Worked just fine for me on 10. Maybe try getting back to stock firmware on your 2G and then install custom and ireb.

As long as you get that long pause even if it says its not installing (almost like its not responding), and ten minutes later the error pops up, it probably installed. But your stuck in dfu mode turn your phone off and then run the iReb after.

If you have the MC Model, you must be on iOS 3.1.2 in order to do the upgrade to 4.1. Does not need to be jailbroken on 3.1.2

I have an MB model.
And so I decided to try to do it on a different computer.
I got further then on my computer, was able to run iReb and get it into DFU mode.
I then ran itunes selected the sn0wbreeze custom FW it seemed like it was working then game me another error, this time it was 40.
But it got me confused cause sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 was supposed to fix error 40.
I thought it was just a miscommunication so I tried it again and it did the same thing.

Do the snowbreeze first. Run ireb last.

I think I may have found the problem. I found this on another site and I haven't tested it but it probably will work.
After doing iReb i just get a black screen, it doesn't tell me to install custom firmware.

"Heres a fix if ireb doesnt load waiting for custom firmware screen on your iPhone 3G--> At the end of creating a firmware in SnowBreeze 2.0.2, it will ask you if your iPhone is already jailbroken or not. Even if it is, just say no. It will take you through entering DFU mode and then once it enters, it will automatically startup ireb within Snowbreeze. This time, it should work and the waiting for custom firmware screen should show up. Hope that helps.

(U have to have the waiting for custom firmware screen show up before you can restore to a custom firmware on iPhone 3G's. If it doesnt show up on your iPhone 3G's screen, then that means that ireb didnt work. Thats probably where some of the itunes errors arose from, such as error 21...)"

Hmm. On a 3G...if its like a 3g the black screen really doesnt matter.

Did you flash back to oroginal firmware ok?

Im at a loss after this:
Install original 4.0 or 4.1 dont jb.
Create custom firmware (i recommend custom boot logo)
Load into itunes and flash it.
You get error and are still in dfu mode
Start ireb
Click no as you said.
Do the reset (power/home) like it says.
-you should see your custom boot logo here while its getting ready for next step of ireb. Using stock logo you wont be able to tell if it flashed.
Follow through till it gets you back through the dfu.
It might say done or give error.
You might have a black screen with no text telling you to load custom ipsw. Dont panic that its black.
Leave it on that screen. Dont reset or unplug.
Tab back over to itunes, shift click and reload your custom ipsw.
Let itunes reset your phone and flash.
You should see the white loading bar and it should complete successfully.

All is good now.
It's installing right now.
That little trick seemed to work.

I did it over my JB 4.0 and it worked.
So I'm all good, thanks for your help.

I first built the IPSW but on simple mode and then it sed sommething about activating my iphone but i clicked no becuase my iphone is already unlocked. then i went to IReb nd it put my device into DFU mode nd my iphone came up with a message Waiting For Custom IPSW. So went to Itunes and restored my iphone with custom IPSW.

So i think this custom ipsw works fyn if u jus do simple mode nd let it build it 4 u nd wen it asks to activate if its already unlocked jus press no nd if it's not press yes.

EDIT: Activate is for when it shows connect to itunes, from my opinion best left to not activate especially if your iphone is already unlocked.
This way worked perfect 4 me.

Love My Jailbroken Iphone 3G :D
