This option is already there. No need for a mod, just go to settings -> updates -> extended updates and toggle the radio button on.

Did u contribute your changes toggleble to github? It`s FOSS man! U gotta do it, so we have autoupdates working :) Great patch anyway, running low on storage recently, and thats my goto google store!
