Image Drawn and Quarterly

Drawn and Quarterly is a Canadian comic book publishing company, headed by publisher Chris Oliveros, and based in Montreal, Quebec. Its focus is on graphic novels and underground or alternative comics. Drawn and Quarterly was also the title of the company's flagship quarterly anthology during the 1990s. The name of the company is a pun on "drawing," "quarterly," and the practice of hanging, drawing and quartering. Oliveros helmed the company by himself for 13 years and then hired Peggy Burns as his associate publisher, formerly of DC Comics and Tom Devlin as his Creative Director, formerly of Highwater Books.

It is currently the most successful and prominent comics publisher in Canada - publishing celebrated talents such as Lynda Barry, Kate Beaton, Chester Brown, Daniel Clowes, Guy Delisle, Julie Doucet, Joe Matt, Shigeru Mizuki, Rutu Modan, Joe Sacco, Seth, Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Adrian Tomine and Chris Ware. In 2006, Drawn and Quarterly sparked an international resurgence in the comics of Finnish legend, Tove Jansson, with the publishing of the Moomin The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip. Although its catalog is considerably smaller than that of its American equivalent Fantagraphics, Drawn & Quarterly enjoys a solid reputation in the comics community and its anthologies have won a number of Harvey Awards

Image Oni Press

Oni Press is an American independent comic book publisher based in Portland, Oregon. It was founded in 1997 by Bob Schreck and Joe Nozemack with the goal of publishing the kinds of comics and graphic novels they themselves would want to read. Unsatisfied with the material that was dominating the industry, they believed firmly that sequential art could be used to tell virtually any story. While Schreck left the company in 1999, Nozemack has built Oni Press into one of independent comics' most respected and innovative publishing houses by publishing one of the most eclectic and varied lines in the comic industry.

The company name derives from oni, the Japanese word for the devils or demons popular in Japanese folklore.

Image Casterman

Casterman is a publisher of Franco-Belgian comics, specializing in comic books and children's literature. The company is based in Tournai, Belgium.

Founded in 1780, Casterman was originally a printing company and publishing house. In 1934, Casterman took over the Le Petit Vingtième editions for the publication of the albums of The Adventures of Tintin, from the 4th album of the series, Cigars of the Pharaoh. From 1942, Casterman published reworked versions and colored versions of the previous Tintin albums.

Strengthened by the success of Hergé's comics, shortly after Casterman proposed new series with new authors such as Jacques Martin, François Craenhals and C. & V. Hansen. From 1954 on, Casterman published children's books as well, including the successful Martine books by Marcel Marlier.

Keen to appeal to a more mature market, Casterman decided in 1973 to publish the first albums of Corto Maltese by the Italian author Hugo Pratt. Furthermore, in 1978 Casterman established its monthly magazine A Suivre, which was to have an impact on the comics revival of the 1990s. Casterman ceased the publication of A Suivre in 1997.

Casterman is now part of Groupe Flammarion, which in turn was bought by RCS MediaGroup (formerly Rizzoli-Corriere della Sera) of Italy.

Casterman's manga series are published under the imprint Sakka.
